The Little Man is a charming puppet film by director Radek Beran based on the children’s book by Lenka Uhlíř and Jiří Stach called The Little Man’s Long Journey. It is the story of the adventure the hero has when he sets out to find what exactly is missing in his life. It was filmed outside in natural surroundings using traditional methods, without using the tricks of modern computer animation.
The artist František Antonín Skála created the puppets as well as the scene design and decoration; he also coordinated the exhibition’s design and installation at the Chrudim Puppetry Museum. The exhibition guides visitors through the entire fantastical landscape of The Little Man, including the stopover at the castle where the Great Anxiety resides or the Little Man’s dwelling in Hollow Hill, from whence the hero sets out on his big journey. There are also various interactive visual and audio elements included in the exhibition to make sure that, for a short while, you’ll find yourself directly in the middle of the Little Man’s cinematic world.
Join the Little Man on his journey for adventure, and together you can discover what he is missing. Fight in a contest against the Great Anxiety and discover what is the most important thing in life for both man and puppet!
